The following is the eligibility for the masters prog:
ELIGIBILITY FOR MASTER PROGRAMME - MANAGEMENT
MFM (Master of Fashion Management)
A three years Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.
For foreign Bachelor’s Degree, not recognised by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.
The syllabus is as following:
MASTER PROGRAMME - MANAGEMENT
M.F.M. (Master of Fashion Management)
The candidates applying for this programme will be administered with General Ability Test (GAT) and Managerial Ability Test (MAT) for the written entrance examination.
GENERAL ABILITY TEST (GAT): This test will comprise of various sub-tests as given below :
1) Quantitative Ability
2) Communication Ability
3) English Comprehension
4) Analytical Ability
5) General Knowledge and Current Affairs
1) Quantitative Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the quantitative ability of the candidates. The sub-test consists of questions on Addition, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Percentage, Rate of Interest, Work and Task, Ratio and Proportion, and Distance.
2) Communication Ability: This sub-test is aimed at testing the language ability of the candidates in day to day communication in English. It includes questions on synonyms, antonyms, words with corresponding meanings, singular, plural, one word substitutes, idioms and phrases, correct spellings, etc.
3) English Comprehension: This sub-test is aimed to test one’s ability to comprehend a situation from a given passage.
4) Analytical Ability: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate's inference and logic from the given information.
5) General Knowledge and Current Affairs: This sub-test is designed to test the candidate’s general knowledge and current affairs.
MANAGERIAL ABILITY TEST (MAT): It is a test to judge the managerial effectiveness and interpersonal skills of the candidates. This test comprises of various sub-tests as given below:
1) Case Study
2) Logical Ability
1) Case Study: This sub-test is based on a situation of an industry environment. It helps to evaluate the candidate’s managerial ability.
2) Logical Ability: This sub-test is aimed to evaluate the candidate’s ability to identify the logic or reason involved in a particular problem given and applying the logic in solving the problem. Concepts and practice of creative and lateral thinking are likely to be useful.
Short listed candidates from the written entrance examination are required to undergo Group Discussion (GD) and Interview.
Case Study based Group Discussions: Group Discussions would entail a discussion comprising of approximately 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on a case study given on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on the following parameters:
1) Conceptual clarity
2) Knowledge of the topic assigned
3) Contribution made on the topic to the group
4) Interpersonal skills
5) Ability to generate new ideas
6) Problem solving approach
7) Leadership qualities
8) Effective communication
Personal Interview: A candidate is judged on the various parameters as listed below:
1) Career orientation
2) Aptness for the field
3) Overall personality traits
4) Overall personal achievements in academics and co-curricular activities
5) Communication
6) General awareness and aptitude
