Quickly arranging the assorted collection of bright-coloured tunics, leggings, dress material and ready-to-wear kurtis in separate sections in a row, Malini flashes a broad smile at a crowd of college girls that stops at her stall and gapes at the trendy stuff.
This lady from Bangalore mans one of the 35-odd stalls put up at Vedika Kalyana Mandapam, near Benz Circle.
Part of ‘Fashion Destination 2011', a three-day exhibition-cum-sale of silk, cotton and designer garments, imitation jewellery, and other lifestyle accessories kicked off on Sunday, Malini is hopeful of doing good business in the next couple of days.
In the next row of stalls sits Karan from Thana in Mumbai.
The young man has carted in stuff, including dress material and ready-mades in cotton, silk, jacquard, and Chanderi. “I have stuff ranging from Rs. 950 to Rs. 2,000. This is my first visit to this city and I hope to return a happy man,” he says with a smile.
Maria from Tanzania in South Africa happily allows visitors to her stall to take a closer look at an array of knick-knacks, most of which is a girlie stuff. Her collection includes hair clips, ear studs, danglers, necklaces, fancy rubber bands, leather bags, wallets and African handicrafts. “No girl, who visits my stall, will return disappointed. I have something for everybody,” she says.
