Varun Bahl opened the Delhi Couture Week 2011 with his Indo-French collection, blending vintage with contemporary perfectly. The designer had Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit in the front row to support him. Dressed in a white anarkali suit complemented with silver stilettos, Madhuri stole the show even though she didn't walk the ramp. However, the actor also delayed the show by almost an hour.

This couture collection was inspired by French queen Marie Antoinette. Colour palette varied from wines and maroons to gold and ivory.

Dresses ranged from embroidered lehengas to flowy anarkalis, farshi-pajamas to quilted jackets. Saris were complemented with deep cut corset blouses, power shoulders and net sleeves. Shimmer was carefully used in some outfits.

Make up was kept basic. Different kinds of puffs were made to create interesting hairstyles. Velvet was used for shoes (both flats and heels).

MadhuriSurprisingly, models with average 5'5' height also walked the ramp sans heels. A model with spiked burgundy hair caught most attention for obvious reasons.

Indian models dominated the runway. French music in the backdrop created the perfect mood.

Other designers like Rohit Bal, Ritu Kumar and Manav Gangvani were there to cheer Bahl.
