National Entrance Examination for Design (NEED) is a qualifying examination for a number of partner institutions for admission to the undergraduate level programmes. This examination is conducted by the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad as a core agency on behalf of the partners. The aim behind this entrance examination is to measure the candidate’s aptitude in designing that involves general mental ability, worldview and sensitivity to environment, creativity, drawing and communication skills. NEED is only the qualifying entrance examination and hence do not guarantees admission in any way or with any of the partner institutions. All those candidates who are looking for applying at NID are shortlisted as per the NEED score and called directly for next phase of admission, studio tests and personal interview for final selection. Candidate need not apply to NID again for the second and third stages. Additionally all those candidates who are looking for admission in the consortium partner institutions are supposed to apply separately to each institute for admission and may have to fulfill its specific requirement for admission in the next phase.
