What an amazing two weeks it’s been for our team at Nift! Last week, members of our team had an incredible experience at the MINDBODY BOLD Conference in San Diego. At the conference, we made our mark as the table handing out seaweed snacks and fig bars, and who added large white envelopes with an orange Nift sticker to the swag bags.

You can be inspired daily if you just pay attention.”

As a company that works with small businesses to bring them new customers, Nift thought BOLD was a perfect fit. Attracting fitness and wellness professionals from all over the world (shout out to the many business owners, and our expo hall neighbors Guest Intake, from Canada!), BOLD is a one-stop whirlwind of learning. It taught us so much about how to best work with fitness and wellness businesses in our network, and gave us so many new ideas and things to consider.

One of our favorite parts from BOLD was listening to tennis legend and equal rights advocate Billie Jean King inspire us all with her stories, jokes, and advice. Peppered in among stories about Elton John writing “Philadelphia Freedom” for her, seeing Venus and Serena play tennis as kids, and much more, King left us with a lot to think about. “What gift or blessing have you been given,” she asked the audience. “How can you use it to make your community and world a better place?”

Nift values support networks… just like Michelle Obama.

We also had the chance to see former First Lady Michelle Obama take the time to speak to BOLD attendees, and she was spectacular. Making the audience laugh with a story about her family traveling to the Vatican only to have her daughter note that the Pope was missing a piece of his thumb, Michelle reminded us that everyone has a different perspective. She also spoke about the necessity of having friends and allies, and reminded us that friends and supporters are everywhere.

Speaking of finding friends wherever you go… we were so excited to see other Bostonians all the way on the west coast! We ran into fellow east coasters from Ultimate Tango, Donahoe Training, Burlington Yoga, and The Hot Yoga Factory Chelmsford. Learning more about them gave us new ideas for what the Nift team can cook up.

At Nift, we power MINDBODY businesses.

Plus, we saw where we could apply Billie Jean’s advice during the “State of the Industry” presentation. We learned that the average fitness studio spends $360 each month on marketing and advertising. When we work with businesses, we try to figure out how they can spend less on marketing but get keep finding great new customers. We left the conference feeling energized to do our part…and with the newfound knowledge that 16% of women are interested in trying permanent makeup, and 6% of men are interested in eyelash extensions. We aren’t sure how exactly those last stats work for Nift, but we’re sure we’ll find out.

Trying new things, learning from the best, and having fun along the way? We think Michelle would be proud.
